Where bold ideas become powerful stories

Our mentoring programme supports artists to develop new story worlds using interactive and immersive tools — including virtual and augmented reality — and take their creative practice to the next level. No prior XR experience needed — just bring your imagination. Alumni have secured funding and presented at SXSW, London Film Festival Expanded and major industry showcases.

In 2025, we focused on Creative Catalyst and our Microstudio facility. TalentLab XR returns in 2026 - the new programme is launching soon.

TalentLab XR is a mentoring and development programme that empowers its participants to navigate the possibilities of immersive storytelling and XR (eXtended Reality).

Be prepared for us to take you outside your comfort zone

Each year, TalentLab looks for emerging Black, Asian and minority-ethnic artists who want to see how extended reality can challenge, push and amplify the boundaries of their ideas. Just bring your imagination! We give you the tools to succeed. You don’t need any prior experience of XR. We want to see creativity and ingenuity more than technical knowhow.

Develop your immersive project for the chance to win a bursary plus further support

To apply, you need an idea for a creative project or story that has potential for bringing into XR. During the programme, we’ll work with you to find the best way to get your ideas produced and seen. We think diverse voices should be heard beyond the space of educational programmes, so we’ll work with you to make your ideas a reality.
