B3 Origin announces Nelson George as lead mentor

Writer and filmmaker Nelson George will be one of this year’s lead mentors for B3 Origin, our new mentoring programme tailored to help the UK’s Black, Asian and ethnically diverse creatives through the challenges posed by COVID-19 pandemic.

George wrote and directed ‘A Ballerina’s Tale’, a documentary about the world famous African American ballerina Misty Copeland. He was also Executive Producer and co-writer on the successful Netflix series ‘The Get Down’, created by director Baz Luhrmann and Pulitzer-winning play- wright Stephen Adly Guirgis. Queen Latifah won the Golden Globe for playing the lead in George’s HBO directorial debut, ‘Life Support.’

Through B3 Origin, a cohort of creatives will receive support to work on their projects and four months of one-on-one mentoring from industry professionals such as Nelson George, matched from B3’s network.
