It’s Cold Outside follows the hallucinogenic odyssey of a depressed first year student who is searching for a less conventional, transcendental way of being.
He is Aaron. A non-conformist, who simply doesn’t fit, he rejects the world of the city - his peers, girlfriend, college life - and having failed to commit suicide, travels to the countryside.
Here he finds a brief relief playing in the bracken, climbing cliffs and swimming in a flooded quarry. This calm abruptly ends as he almost drowns.
Despairing and lost, he wanders aimlessly along a country road at night before being drawn, like a moth to light, towards a large manor house - voices heard singing a folksy hymn inside. He enters and finds the community he’s unknowingly been looking for.
A Blank Slate 2010 film, Wr/Dir Piers Hill.
