TalentLab 2012 Under-way
Summary17 artists and filmmakers complete our week-long residency in Brixton.
The TalentLab Development Week took place in June, attended by 17 outstanding artists and filmmakers which were shortlisted to the stage. Speakers included world-respected NYU professor of film Ken Dancyger; documentary producer Jaimie D'Cruz (Exit Through the Gift Shop); multimedia director Osbert Parker; cinematographer Taina Galis; artist and musician Gary Stewart; sound designer Larry Sider; filmmakers Sandhya Suri, Rob Curry, Yomi Ayeni and Kibwe Tavares; producer Atif Ghani (Ill Manors); and Anna Sissons from distributor Dogwoof.
The participants re-submitted, and have now been shortlisted to 12, who move forward to an intensive two-day lab with script editor Franz Rodenkirchen from the Binger Filmlab this month. The participants are:
After this, a final six will move forward to the full development stage, running this Autumn. At this stage, the participants get substantial in-kind development support, a development bursary, and the chance to pitch to a room-ful of invited industry guests at BAFTA towards the end of the year.
This year, we are partnered with the Creative Skillset Film Skills Fund, University of Nottingham’s Horizon/ Mixed Reality Lab, and the Binger Filmlab. Watch out for further updates on the slate.
