On Thursday 9th November 2017 #B3ShortCuts welcomed writer/producer Nelson George (The Get Down) and producer Effie T Brown (Dear White People) down to The Ritzy Picturehouse to discuss their careers, the new wave of black cinema and finding your voice as a filmmaker while staying true to your vision.
We kick started the evening with a quick intro for those unfamiliar with their work and after an insightful conversation opened up to a Q&A with the audience firing questions!
Naturally we overran as the questions flew in!
We also hosted a separate #B3ShortCuts screening and director's Q&A of "A Ballerina's Tale" at The Ritzy on Saturday 11th November 2017. The documentary, directed by Nelson George, tells the story of the first African American principal dancer for the American Ballet Theatre, Misty Copeland.
Many thanks to our dear friends Nelson George and Effie T Brown for sharing your journeys! We very much look forward to having you again soon!
