Compass Point
New Routes into Film & Media
B3 Media and the National Film & Television School have teamed up to bring you Compass Point. The career development scheme, now in its second year, is aimed at overcoming barriers faced by Black and Ethnic Minority workers in film and television.
Applications for the 2007 round of participants have now closed.
Backed by the European Social Fund Equal Programme via Skillset and the UK Film Council, Compass Point will give a career boost to 16 aspiring media creatives with a programme of skills enhancement, business planning and mentoring from established industry figures.
Participants will be enabled to develop a strategic overview of their current practice, develop their entrepreneurial competencies and greatly enhance their overall professionalism so as to compete more effectively in the marketplace. The Compass Point programme includes workshops and practical assignments in business-planning and project development. Participants will also make a short DVD to showcase their talents.
Inspired by a UK Film Council finding that Black and ethnic minority professionals are under-represented in film, television and related media industries, the venture, Compass Point, will be a springboard for BME media entrepreneurs looking to fast-track their careers.
Graduates of the scheme will be positioned to enhance their businesses, develop their own careers and play a vital role in creating a more representative
The programme runs from March - October 2007
